IHFH's mission is to transform Idaho's surplus
wild, big game meat into nutritious food for the hungry.
IHFH's goal is to feed the hungry while
utilizing one of Idaho's renewable natural resources. |

|
|
Attention Idaho Hunters:
You
are blessed with the ability to help those less fortunate than you.
Please donate extra big game meat from the previous hunting season
to families less fortunate than you. You can do this by donating the
frozen meat to a participating food bank. Please tell them it
is for the Hunter Feeding the Hungry Program. |
|
“Feed the hungry and help those in trouble.
Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the
darkness around you will be as bright as day. The Lord will
guide you continually, watering your life when you are dry and
keeping you healthy, too. You will be like a well-watered
garden, like an ever-flowing spring."

Hunger is a reality in urban and rural communities throughout Idaho.
In 2001, Soup Kitchens and other on-site feeding programs served
2,874,722 prepared meals. Two out of three served were Idaho’s
children and elderly who could not provide for themselves. Meat is
the least available item for programs working to alleviate hunger in
our communities. This is especially true of red meat, which because of
marketability, is seldom donated. Wild game, which is higher in
protein and lower in fat than beef, provides excellent value as an
addition to the diets of those who cannot provide for themselves.
IHFH's concept
is for those less fortunate to benefit from the benevolence of the
Idaho sportsman, various private companies, government agencies, and
caring individuals.
The Basic Plan:
|
1. Hunters donate portions
of their harvest at the time of processing to IHFH through participating
meat processors. At this time the Hunter will be asked to pay for the
processing of the donated meat.
2. This processed meat would then be distributed through area
food banks, meal kitchens, churches, etc. to individuals and families in
need.
Hunters can donate five
pounds or fifty pounds; no donation
is too big or too small. |

|
How You Can Help:
IHFH greatly needs your help with funding and spreading the word to
the hunting community about our program. If all of us help couple
hunters who have extra meat with those unable to provide enough meat
for themselves and their families, we will have a dynamic impact on
a growing hunger problem. Please help make this a reality.
